OF THE PROGRAM

This short-term program is tailored for international students who wish to learn about Filipino language and culture in the Philippines. Embracing a diverse spectrum of language proficiencies, from beginner to advanced learners, the program delivers immersive in-class instruction, fostering linguistic growth and cultural appreciation. The program highlights authentic Filipino homestays, cultural activities, cultural excursions, and culinary exploration.

PROGRAM
COMPONENTS

Minimum 140 hours of classroom instruction (cultural activities and field excursions do not count toward this total) for students studying first and second-year language Language Instruction:

  1. Beginner and Intermediate Level: Minimum 140 hours of classroom instruction.
  2. Advanced Level: Minimum of 120 hours of classroom instruction.

On-campus accommodation
Special student permit (as required by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration for students staying in the Philippines under three months)

Note: Students are responsible for arranging their own international travel and health insurance. Additionally, fees for extensions
beyond the 30-day free tourist visa privilege for US citizens will be their responsibility.

TRANSFER CREDIT

Students can transfer credits earned from this program to their home university. The credit is calculated based on the hours of in-class activities and out-of-classroom engagement.

PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS

The program is led by instructors and professors from Central Luzon State University,
three of whom are alumni of the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Program and taught Tagalog as a foreign language in select US universities.
