During their visit, the officials toured the Hannah Tibbs Writers’ Studio, housed at the International Affairs Office—the first academic writing center in the Philippines established with funding support from the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines. They received a briefing from Dr. Emil F. Ubaldo, the project leader and a CHED-Fulbright scholar, on Mrs. Hannah W. Tibbs’ legacy in CLSU’s history and the studio’s services, highlighting its role in enhancing academic writing and supporting the broader community.
Their visit was part of their official tour of Nueva Ecija, which also included the commemoration of the heroic actions of Americans and Filipinos during the Great Raid of 1945—a historic operation that led to the liberation of the prisoner-of-war camp in Cabanatuan during World War II.
