
CEd Faculty Joins International Summer School in Global Histories in Swedish University
Mr. Joe Lawrence M. Mina, faculty member of the CLSU Laboratory for Teaching and Learning–University Science High School (CLTL-USHS) under the College of Education (CEd), participated as a graduate student in the International Summer School in Global Histories and the 8th European Congress on World and Global History held at Linnaeus University, Växjö, Sweden, on September 7–12, 2025.
Organized by the European Network in Universal and Global History (ENIUGH) in collaboration with the Global Diplomacy Network (GDN), the Linnaeus University Center for Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies (LNUC), and the Asian Center of the University of the Philippines Diliman, the Summer School gathered graduate students and professors from Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America to exchange perspectives on inclusive and critical approaches to global history.
During the Summer School, Mr. Mina presented his ongoing dissertation research titled “Christianity, Commandancia, and Migration: The Rise of Nueva Ecija, 1590–1848.” He also participated in the European Congress, where scholars worldwide discussed methodological reflections and thematic expansions in world and global history.
Extending his academic engagement, Mr. Mina was further invited by the Department of History of Stockholm University to deliver his paper, “Agricultural Land Transformation and Rice Production in the Province of Nueva Ecija in the 19th Century,” at the Philippine History Forum on September 16, 2025, in Stockholm, Sweden.
