CHSI-DFST hosts Visiting Professor from Istanbul University in Turkey for a Seminar Series

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) through the College of Home Science and Industry (CHSI), Department of Food Science and Technology (DFST) co-sponsored by the Philippine Association of Food Technologists-Zeta Chapter successfully hosted Professor Dr. Turgay Çetinkaya, a professor at the Department of Aquatic Biotechnology and Genomics from Istanbul University in Turkey for the 5th Food Technology Seminar Series with a lecture about the “Novel Strategies in the Application of Nanotechnology in Food and Packaging” on March 25, 2026.

Atty. Jay B. Villafria delivered an opening message representing Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Joel G. Juvinal, Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology, introduced the resource speaker and provided a brief background about the program. Professor Dr. Turgay presented and shared his expertise about nanotechnology, food systems and packaging, and its significant contribution to sustainable food production.

The event was also attended by Dr. Danila S. Paragas, Head of the Nanotechnology R&D Facility, Dr. Hazel Monica M. Peralta from the College of Fisheries, along with the faculty members, staff, and undergraduate students from the College of Home Science and Industry.
