
CLSU inks bilateral partnership with leading Thai university for hospitality and tourism programs

The Central Luzon State University and Prince of Songkla University (PSU) – Phuket Campus have formally signed the bilateral partnership for hospitality and tourism management programs last March 4, 2024.
The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism at Prince of Songkla University (PSU) – Phuket Campus holds the top spot in Thailand and ranks between 101-150 globally for Hospitality and Leisure Management in the QS World University Rankings.
The memorandum of understanding between the two institutions encompasses mobility programs for teaching staff and students, along with research collaborations, further expanding their initial connection through the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Program.
During the bilateral meeting, the CLSU delegation also expressed keen interest in sending faculty members to PSU’s PhD Program (by research) in Integrated Tourism and Hospitality Management. Meanwhile, PSU-Phuket Campus extended an invitation to CLSU for the 20th Asia Pacific Forum for Graduate Student Research in Tourism, which they will co-host with the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in June 2024.
The signing ceremony and bilateral meeting took place in Phuket, attended by key officials from Prince of Songkla University (PSU) – Phuket Campus: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pun Thongchumnum (Vice President), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornpisanu Promsivapallop (Dean, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism), Dr. Tagsina Sripracha (Assistant President for International Affairs), Ms. Pityada Jeokwon (Head of International Affairs Centre), Ms. Chotima Witthayasirikul (Academic Administrator, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism), and Ms. Naruemon Sae-tan (International Affairs Officer).
The CLSU delegation included Prof. Dr. Celyrah B. Castillo (Dean, College of Home Science and Industry), Assoc. Prof. Celeste D. Dela Cruz (Chair, Dept. of Hospitality and Tourism Management), Ms. Ma. Rheena Carla Francia (Instructor, Dept. of Textile and Garment Technology), and Prof. Dr. Emil F. Ubaldo (Chief, Mobility and Intercultural Exchange Unit at the International Affairs Office and university coordinator for the AIMS Program).
During the campus tour, the CLSU delegation visited PSU Lodge (a 33-room campus hotel and training facility for hospitality and tourism students), Sweet Factory Café (a training facility for entrepreneurship courses operated wholly by students and serve the public), airplane cabin and other labs for airline hospitality training, specialized laboratories for the hospitality industry, student collaboration rooms, and smart classrooms.
