
CLSU, Kasetsart University to partner on textile science and fashion design program
Central Luzon State University recently held a collaborative meeting with Kasetsart University's (KU) Department of Textile Science in Bangkok on March 6.
The main focus of the bilateral meeting is to establish an official partnership focusing on textile science and fashion design programs through mobility initiatives and research collaboration. Additionally, there is an intention to send selected instructors from CLSU’s Department of Textile and Garment Technology to pursue a Master of Science in Textile Science at Kasetsart University.
The visiting CLSU delegation composed of Prof. Dr. Celyrah B. Castillo (Dean, College of Home Science and Industry), Assoc. Prof. Celeste D. Dela Cruz (Chair, Dept. of Hospitality and Tourism Management), Ms. Ma. Rheena Carla Francia (Instructor, Dept. of Textile and Garment Technology), and Prof. Dr. Emil F. Ubaldo (Chief, Mobility and Intercultural Exchange Unit at the International Affairs Office and university coordinator for the AIMS Program).
The CLSU team met with key officials from Kasetsart’s Department of Textile Science, including Dr. Pithalai Phoophat (Head), Asst. Prof. Dr. Pawarin Tuntariyanond (Deputy Head), Asst. Prof. Dr. Korntip Watcharapanyawong Techametheekul (Senior Lecturer/Deputy Dean for Educational Quality and Organization Development, Faculty of Agro-Industry), and Asst. Prof. Dr. Phannapat Phrompen (Lecturer).
KU’s Textile Science Department also provided a comprehensive campus tour to visiting CLSU delegation on its facilities dedicated to textile science.
The collaboration meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to initiate a memorandum of agreement formalizing the partnership.
It’s worth noting that CLSU and KU already have an existing memorandum of understanding, and both universities are member institutions of the Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Program.
