The International Affairs Office and the College of Education of the university conducted the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) on March 26, 2026, at the Smart Classroom, Visionary Leadership Gate for ten pre-service teachers and their parents who are set to participate in the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA Teacher) Program.

The students, who come from various undergraduate programs under the College of Education (CEd), will spend one month at their respective host universities. Three students will be deployed to Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) in Medan, Indonesia; five to Universitas Jambi (UNJA) in Jambi, Indonesia from March 30 to April 18, 2026; and two to the Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from April 12 to May 10, 2026.

Assistant Professor Joseph A. Villarama, SEA Teacher Program Manager, introduced the host universities and oriented the students and led the discussion of the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar. Ms. Marites D. Antonio, a faculty scholar from CEd who is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Early Childhood Education in Universitas Jambi Indonesia, shared her experiences and insights including the culture, food, daily expenses, and practices she has witnessed in Indonesia.

Dr. Parsons N. Hail, Director of the International Affairs Office acknowledged the parents of the students for dedicating their time and support in this profound journey of their children and encouraged the students to enjoy the whole duration of the program in their respective host universities and reminded them to carry the values and principles of CLSU as they are representing the institution in Indonesia.
