IAO chief, first alum represent CLSU in AIMS Meeting in Malaysia

November 13, 2025

Mr. Ariel Joseph J. Barza, Chief of the Events and Services Unit of the International Affairs Office (IAO), and Mr. Arjan Chyler C. Manansala, AIMS alumnus from the BS Agriculture program joined the Philippine contingent to the 19th Annual Review Meeting of the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme, themed “Building Stronger Partnerships for the Future of AIMS,” held from November 3 to 7, 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Mr. Barza joined government representatives, higher education institutions, faculty, students, and alumni to review the achievements of the AIMS Programme, exchange best practices, and formulate the AIMS Operational Plan for the next 18 months. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED).

Mr. Manansala, a 2023 AIMS alumnus who completed his mobility program at Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB University) in Indonesia and the first CLSU alumnus to attend the AIMS Annual Review Meeting, participated in the Parliamentary Debate on ASEAN Community Building, where 14 AIMS alumni—including three from the Philippines—discussed key regional issues and policy challenges, expressing his belief that innovation thrives when individuals can challenge norms and freely express ideas without fear of making mistakes.

In the Philippines, only six universities under the AIMS Philippine Network are authorized to accept AIMS students in agriculture, selected for their strong academic programs and capacity to host international students. CLSU is among these key institutions, continuously advancing international cooperation in higher education and nurturing globally competent graduates prepared to contribute to regional and global development.
