
Lawmaker from Liberia visits CLSU, to sponsor Liberian Youth for agri programs

An elected senator from the African country of Liberia visited the university for an exploratory dialogue and campus visit last January 4, 2024.
Hon. Crayton Oldman Duncan, a Senator of the Republic of Liberia, made the visit in his bid to send youth in his country for undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture fields at CLSU to boost his country’s agricultural productivity.
University President Prof. Dr. Evaristo A. Abella met with the delegation of Senator Duncan to discuss the goal of sending students to CLSU for their studies, technical assistance of CLSU experts, and research partnership.
Duncan will provide scholarships to Liberian youth who will be sent to CLSU to pursue agricultural programs and who will in turn serve back their respective communities in their home country after graduation.
President Abella expresses his utmost support to this future academic partnership as one of his priority agendas in advancing internationalization as CLSU continues to deliver international education and experience to its global ßclientele, living through its vision of becoming “a world-class National Research University for science and technology in agriculture and allied fields.”
The senator and his delegation were impressed during their tour of the Small Ruminant Center and the Precision and Digital Agriculture Center at CLSU where they learned about the innovations being pursued at these university facilities.
He remarked that the agricultural advancements he has seen in these centers align with what he envisions for his country's agricultural progress.
