Mobility Chief completes DAAD-DIES regional internationalization workshop in India
Dr. Emil F. Ubaldo, Chief of the Mobility and Intercultural Exchange Unit at the International Affairs Office, completed the Asian regional phase of the prestigious Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) Training Course on the Management of Internationalization from October 13 to 17, 2025, in Karnataka, India.
The session was hosted by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), a designated "Institute of Eminence" by India’s University Grants Commission and a world-ranked private university with campuses in Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Ubaldo is one of only ten selected professionals from Asia in the 2025–2026 cohort, which also includes representatives from Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, and India.
During the intensive workshop, Dr. Ubaldo collaborated with peers and experts to discuss strategies for developing organizational frameworks for internationalization, promoting global and interregional research, integrating intercultural perspectives into curricula, and building sustainable international partnerships.
The training in India followed the program's first phase, which Dr. Ubaldo completed at Leibniz University Hannover in Germany in March 2025 alongside 10 participants from Latin America and 10 from Africa.
During the workshop, Dr. Ubaldo presented his initiative, which focuses on harmonizing policies and procedures for CLSU's various student outbound mobility programs, and received feedback from the invited experts. The finalized projects will be presented during the program’s concluding online phase in March 2026.
The DIES Training Course on the Management of Internationalization is a flagship program coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Rectors' Conference (HRK), with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
