CLSU Bithay Sining Dance Company Secures Bronze at 2026 Andong Mask Festival in South Korea
The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) Bithay Sining Dance Company proudly represented the Philippines for the second time and was awarded a Bronze for the Individual and Group Category International Division at the 2026 Andong Mask Festival in South Korea.
This year’s edition gathers folklore ensembles, musicians, dancers, and cultural ambassadors from more than 30 countries for a week-long programme. Organized by the Korea Foundation for Culture and Ethics along with the Andong City and relevant cultural and tourism authorities the festival brings together mask dance ensembles, musicians, dancers, and cultural ambassadors from various countries to showcase traditional arts and heritage.
The Philippine delegation, led by Assoc. Prof. Adonis Voltaire M. Villanueva, Head of the Cultural Affairs Office also participates in a series of cultural workshops, mask-making sessions, conferences, school visits, community performances, and interactive cultural exchange activities that engage local audiences and youth.
Adding prestige to the opening ceremonies, Her Excellency Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of Korea, extended a formal welcome to the CLSU delegation, commending their exceptional representation of the nation.
Through its participation in the festival, the CLSU Bithay Sining Dance Company serves as a cultural ambassador of both the University and the Philippines, showcasing the artistry, creativity, and enduring traditions of Filipino culture on the global stage.
