Aquaculture and Animal Science Graduate Students Take Part in 10th UC Summer School Hosted by IPB University
Two graduate students, Argin C. Labitag, MS in Aquaculture and Rachelle Q. Magaway, MS in Animal Science, from the Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS) of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) joins the two-week 10th University Consortium (UC) Summer School from September 22 to October 6, 2026.
This year’s program is hosted by the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) University in partnership with the University Consortium (UC) Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA). Centered on the theme “Agromaritime: Integrated Land-Sea Systems for Sustainable Resource Management”, the two-week intensive program addresses the critical intersection between terrestrial agriculture and marine ecosystems.
Mr. Labitag and Ms. Magaway are joined by a diverse cohort from UC member institutions including, IPB University, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Brawijaya in Indonesia; Universiti Putra Malaysia in Malaysia; Kasetsart University and Maejo University in Thailand; University of the Philippines Los Baños, Visayas State University, Central Mindanao University, and Mariano Marcos State University in the Philippines; Tokyo University of Agriculture (Tokyo NODAI) in Japan; and National Taiwan University in Taiwan.
Participants are expected to have field visits, cultural exchange and tours, hands-on activities, and collaborative analysis that will allow the students to observe Indonesia’s agricultural practices, experimental farms, fisheries, ecological sites, and to deepen their understanding of scientific concepts discussed during lectures.
This milestone participation underscores the vibrant, and ongoing institutional collaboration among CLSU, SEARCA, and IPB University, further strengthening international partnerships and academic mobility in aquaculture, agriculture, and other allied fields.
