MS AgEn Student Joins DOST-PCAARRD Sandwich Program to Conduct Research at WSU USA

Allyson Jane M. Nitura, a Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering student from the Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS) of Central Luzon State University (CLSU), participates in the “DOST-PCAARRD Sandwich Program for Graduate Research in the AANR” at Washington State University (WSU), Pullman, Washington, USA from May 13 to November 15, 2026.

She has been granted a funding and endorsement from the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) to conduct her graduate research on the “Utilization of Rice Husk Ash from a Biomass Power Plant in the Philippines as a Supplementary Cementitious Material in Concrete Production.”

Through the guidance of Dr. Manuel Garcia-Perez, Professor and Chair of Biological Systems Engineering Department of Washington State University, Ms. Nitura is expected to improve her technical capacity and research skills, expand her professional network through collaborations and exposure to researchers and experts in the field, and complete her advanced research.

This initiative forms part of the ongoing collaboration between CLSU and WSU, which promotes international partnerships in Agricultural and Biological Engineering and related fields.
