CLSU IAO, CEd Welcomes Six Inbound SEA Teachers from Indonesia
The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through its International Affairs Office (IAO) and College of Education (CEd), welcomes six inbound participants of Regular Batch 11 of the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA Teacher) Project from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) and Universitas Jambi (UNJA), Indonesia, for their exchange program from October 12 to November 13, 2026.
Three elementary education pre-service teachers from UMSU—Ms. Namirah Lita Namora Harahap, Ms. Nazla Azizah Manurung, and Ms. Gissa Syahbina—are deployed at the Department of Education–CLSU Elementary Laboratory School. Meanwhile, three pre-service teachers from UNJA are assigned to the CLSU Laboratory for Teaching and Learning–University Science High School (CLTL-USHS): Mr. Giovanni Revalino Araya and Ms. Fatima Alia Zahra, both specializing in English education, and Ms. Anastasya Priska Dona, specializing in Mathematics education.
The delegation was formally welcomed by the university through a courtesy call with University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella; Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco; Vice President for Administration Dr. Ariel G. Mactal; Vice President for Business Affairs Dr. Karenina B. Romualdo; CEd Dean Dr. Florante P. Ibarra; Schools Division Superintendent of the Schools Division of Science City of Muñoz Dr. Johanna N. Gervacio; International Affairs Office Director Dr. Parsons N. Following the courtesy call, the participating schools conducted orientation programs led by the DepEd–CLSU Elementary Laboratory School Principal Dr. Jocelyn R. De Guzman and CLTL-USHS Chair Dr. Ma. Catalina C. Cadiz, together with the assigned supervisors and cooperating teachers. The orientations introduced the participants to their respective host schools, teaching assignments, and the academic environment in which they would complete their teaching practice.
Beyond classroom immersion, the participants explored the university campus, including the Freshwater and Aquaculture Center (FAC), the Center for Climate Change and Environmental Management (CCCEM), and the Dungon Museum, as well as notable sites in the Science City of Muñoz and San Jose City assisted by Ms. Maria Theresa E. Salazar, Ms. Gracious T. De Guzman, Ms. Princess Mae Hidalgo, Mr. Almarc A. Marco, and Dr. Lyan Mae Micah V. Dela Cruz. These activities provided opportunities for the participants to learn more about the university, its academic and research facilities, and the surrounding communities.
As part of their cultural immersion, the Indonesian pre-service teachers also learned Philippine folk dances and participated in an Arnis session and arts activities facilitated by student volunteers from the IAO and the Department of Hospitality Management, together with members of the CLSU Bithay Sining Dance Company.
In the coming weeks, the participants will engage in classroom observations and teaching demonstrations at their respective host schools, where they will gain firsthand experience in Philippine teaching practices, classroom management, and instructional strategies. They will also participate in educational tours and cultural activities designed to broaden their understanding of the Philippine educational system, local communities, and cultural heritage.
