Student volunteers from Sunchon National University (SCNU), South Korea, formally concluded the three-day CLSU leg of the Philippine Overseas Volunteer Program on August 11, 2026.

Following their community outreach activity at Tahanan ng Damayang Kristiyano, the SCNU delegation returned to Central Luzon State University (CLSU) for the closing and farewell program, which recognized the successful completion of their volunteer activities and cultural engagements at the University.

During the program, Mr. Kim Taewook, a faculty member of SCNU, and Mr. Choi Chanung, class president, conveyed their gratitude for the hospitality extended by the CLSU community. They reflected on how the three-day volunteer program contributed to their personal development and appreciation of Filipino culture. They also expressed their commitment to sharing their experiences with their fellow students in South Korea and their hope for continued collaboration between SCNU and CLSU.

Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed her sincere appreciation to SCNU, a valued institutional partner, for selecting CLSU as its host institution. She emphasized the importance of international collaborative initiatives in broadening students’ perspectives, fostering global citizenship, and strengthening academic and cultural relations between partner institutions.

Certificates of recognition were presented to the SCNU volunteers by Dr. Velasco, together with Dr. Parsons N. Hail, Director of the International Affairs Office (IAO), and Dr. Emil F. Ubaldo, Chief of the Mobility and Intercultural Exchange Program Division.

As part of the closing program, the SCNU student volunteers presented a special dance performance and participated in a fellowship activity with the CLSU faculty and staff.

Also present during the event were Dr. Jayson Juan, Dean of the College of Agriculture; Dr. Rea Mae C. Templonuevo, Dean of the College of Fisheries; Dr. Jaypee Samson, IAO Coordinator of the College of Fisheries; Ms. Kim Suhyeon, teacher at the King Sejong Institute–Muñoz; and Engr. Laila Marie A. Lavandero, adviser of the CLSU Pigura Visual Arts Group.

Representing the IAO team were Mr. Jerome O. Garcia, Chief of the Events and Services Division; Mr. Ariel Joseph J. Barza; Mr. Almarc A. Marco; Dr. Lyan Mae Micah V. Dela Cruz; Ms. Maria Theresa E. Salazar; and Ms. Princess Mae Hidalgo.
