
BACADM Project Team (CLSU and Tamagawa University) Conducts Workshop on Identification of Mitosporic Fungi to DA-Bureau of Plant Industry National Plant Quarantine Services Division.

The BACADM Project Team, Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and Tamagawa University, Prof. Dr. Kyoko Watanabe and Prof. Dr. Katsuhiko Ando shared their expertise on Identification of Mitosporic Fungi to its partner institution the Department of Agriculture -Bureau of Plant Industry National Plant Quarantine Services Division (BPI-NPQSD) on a two-day workshop as part of the collaborative activities under the Project for the Development of Novel Diseases Management Systems for Banana and Cacao on July 31 to August 1, 2024. The 2-day workshop was facilitated by Dr. Parsons N. Hail, Project Manager and Project 4 Leader of the BACADM Project, and experts from the Tamagawa University Professor Dr. Kyoko Watanabe, Chief Investigator of the BACADM Project, and Prof. Dr. Katsuhiko Ando.
Furthermore, the Department of Agriculture Spokesperson and Assistant Secretary for Special Concerns and Official Development Assistance (ODA) ASec. Mr. Arnel de Mesa, the DA-Bureau of Plant Industry Director Dr. Gerald Glenn Panganiban, and DA-Philippine Center For Postharvest Development and Mechanization Director Dr. Dionisio Alvindia supported the event and expressed their gratitude and full support for the workshop and collaborative initiatives of the BACADM Project and DA-BPI. Also, the Banana and Cacao Diseases Management Project Leaders of CLSU Dr. Elaida Fiegalan, and Dr. Garry Benico, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Philippines Ms. Akie Umeno supported and participated in the event.
