IAO Hosts Capacity-building for College Student Leaders

October 17, 2024
The International Affairs Office, in collaboration with alumni from various outbound exchange programs of the University, spearheaded a capacity-building seminar for college student leaders at the Hannah W. Tibbs Writers' Studio on October 11, 2024.

Dubbed as “Leading with Vision: Leadership Strategies for Global Integration,” the program was conceived by Arjan Chyler C. Manansala, an alumnus of the Asian International Mobility Program (AIMS) in Bogor, Indonesia, and the AIMS Summer Program in Hiroshima, Japan.

Dr. Emil F. Ubaldo, Chief of the Mobility and Intercultural Exchange Unit, served as the resource person. He discussed the university’s expanding global partnerships, mobility opportunities for students, and strategies for integrating internationalization-at-home initiatives into college student governments' activities, with support from the International Affairs Office (IAO).

“This program was designed to serve students by sharing insights from our internationalization experiences. We aimed to equip them with the strategies and knowledge needed to become leaders who can navigate and contribute to a globally integrated world,” said Manansala.

The event brought together 19 student leaders, including college governors, vice-governors, and other officials from CLSU's nine colleges.

“I learned so much from this session. It really helps us, as students, to better understand the different opportunities available both inside and beyond CLSU. I’m especially grateful to the International Affairs Office for making these opportunities more accessible. I didn’t realize there were so many programs we could benefit from. I hope they continue to organize activities like this for future Sielsyuans,” said Bert De Guzman, governor of the College of Arts and Social Sciences Student Government.

This event marks the first installment of a capacity-building series led by alumni from various outbound exchange programs of the University as part of their return service commitment.
